Benefits Of Installing Jeep Bumpers

For most Jeep enthusiasts nothing is as precious as their rig. Jeep bumpers are accessories designed to protect the heart of any Jeep - it's engine. A front bumper helps guard the essential components of a rig from damage in the case of accidents.

There are several benefits of installing a Jeep bumper. During an accident or a crash a good bumper takes the brunt of the impact and can even save the lives of passengers. It definitely ensures that the primary component - the engine - is sheltered from injury. Bumpers are especially effective during off-roading excursions. They act as barriers against rocks and stones and sudden crashes that can occur while off-roading.

Jeep bumpers also increase the aesthetic appeal of the vehicle, which is a big ego booster for any Jeep owner.

There are several types of bumpers in the market that you can choose from. Jeep bumpers are available in a wide variety of materials such as rubber, fiberglass, steel, aluminum and plastic. All the bumpers are much stronger than any other parts of the vehicle since they are designed to absorb maximum impact during collisions. Most bumpers contain some kind of a shock absorbent like polypropylene foam or plastic honeycomb and brackets.

Jeep bumpers are also available in different colors and you can choose to paint the bumper yourself too. Customized bumpers are also available but are slightly more expensive than the regular ones.

You also get bumpers for the front and rear. Front bumpers are generally more popular since they afford protection to the all-important engine. However, rear bumpers are a good idea too to reduce the maintenance on the rig. They are also a good way to protect rear-mounted tires.

There are some great accessories that you can add to your Jeep bumper to further increase the prowess of your Jeep.

  • A Jeep winch attaches to the front bumper and the electric motor and high-torque gearbox can be used to pull the heaviest objects out of the way. It can even be used to pull your Jeep out of a tight spot.
  • You can also attach a swing out tire rack to your rear bumper. This is a great place to mount your tire and take the weight off your tailgate and mount it on the frame instead. Especially beneficial if you get larger tires.
  • You can also attach a trail rack to the rear bumper. This will significantly increase your cargo carrying capacity on the road.
  • Another great accessory that can be mounted onto the rear bumper is the Jeep receiver hitches that can be used for towing.

Thus, Jeep bumpers are a really great way to minimize off-roading damage and increase the life of your rig.
