Tips on selecting Jeep Floor Mats

Jeep floor mats are something that every Jeeper needs to ensure that the interiors of his or her rig stay clean. Whether you drag mud, slush or snow into your Jeep or spill some coke or coffee while navigating a particularly rough road, the rig can become pretty messy. Floor mats are thus the simplest method of keeping the rig clean on the inside.

Here are some of the main things to consider when shopping around for Jeep floor mats:

  • The first thing to consider is how easy are the floor mats to clean? Imagine installing brand new floor mats to help keep the carpet clean, and then being unable to easily clean off the Jeep floor mats themselves! Ideally, you want to buy floor mats that can be removed easily and simply rinsed off with water. The mats should not stain easily.

  • The second thing to consider is how much water or liquid can the Jeep floor mats contain? Sometimes, the floor mats are really good but they don't have a raised outer lip. This considerably reduces the amount of water that is contained within the floor mats. The water tends to spill over and mess up the carpet.

  • The third thing to check on is whether the floor mats have high ridges. The deeper the channels and valleys in the mat the less likely the spills are to run onto the carpet area.

  • The fourth thing to check for is whether the Jeep floor mats have treads on the bottom so that they don't slide and slip around. This can be extremely annoying because if the mats slide around then spills are practically unavoidable. In addition you will have to keep adjusting and readjusting the floor mats into proper position.

  • Finally, check the size of the floor mats to see that they cover most of the carpet of your rig. The mats must fit well. Too small a mat wont help in keeping the rig clean and too large will be obstructive.

There are many different types of Jeep floor mats available so look around before you decide which ones to buy.

  • The first kind is the regular nylon carpet like Jeep floor mats that are used in most vehicles. Of course, because Jeeps see more rugged use than regular cars these nylon like mats are not the most popular.

  • The second kind is the non-stick rubber mats that are extremely easy to clean. Such mats generally feature many grooves and valleys, which considerably increase their water holding capacity. Overall, a good buy.

  • You could also opt for nylon liners with a water barrier placed at the bottom. These look considerably better than the nylon and rubber mats and performance wise also do a good job. Easy to clean. However, they can be almost 25% more expensive that the others.

  • Husky liners are the most popular floor mats. Easy to clean, lots of grooves and channels, a high outer lip, treads on the bottom and everything else a jeeper could ask for! A little on the expensive side but most buyers claim they are worth every penny spent on them.

Now that you know what to look for in Jeep floor mats go out and find the best for your rig!
