sounds like a bad ground to fuel pump
by: Anonymous

I've never heard of vapor locking on a fuel injected engine. It sounds to me like you have a bad ground to the fuel pump / sending unit assembly in the fuel tank.

The fuel tank is plastic so the fuel pump and fuel level sending unit rely on a hard wire ground. This ground being bad will cause the fuel pump to stop running and cause the fuel gauge to go high (full). I hope this helps.

Although vapor lock is rare in a fuel injected engine, it is possible if your fuel lines are routed to close to the engine.

Thanks for the additional information, it is very helpful.
